The Morel Family In Louisiana

The Morel Family had been in Louisiana since 1847, going back to our ancestors in Quebec and Paris since the early twelth century A.D. This family has long been a part of the hospitality industry and we are proud to be in the hospitality industry for so many years.
           
Our restaurant has been in existence since 1926 in Downtown New Roads, Louisianan, and though it is not the original building, Morel's has been serving food to customers since before your grandmother can remember.

Our Hotel and Inn is just a small part of our family owned businesses but we are proud of it. We have twelve rooms located just above the banks of False River, which is an oxbow lake that was formed out of one of the bends in the mighty Mississippi River many centuries ago. The lake stands today as False River, which is a famous trophy lake for fishing and sportsmen. We also host a number of activities during the years including Fishing Rodeos, Tournements, Boat Races, Boat Parades and other national events often televised across the country. In addition, Mardi Gras in New Roads is almost as famous as Mardi Gras in New Orleans, only better because our children ride the floats and we get to watch them. Expect reservations at the restaurant and Inn On False River to be booked up to a year ahead of time for this time of year.

Please join us for your next vacation and stay a week or a month, like many of our guests. It is difficult to leave once you get a taste of New Roads. Our restaurant has a River Room which is situated directly over the water and overlooks False River, with amazing sunsets and vistas for your party or event. To rent out this spectacular room, please email us or call us in advance to determine availability way ahead of time of your event.

We also do catering and often cater for large events like rehearsal suppers, dinner partys, birthday gatherings, meetings and seminars, as well, we rent the room for a set fee, and for up to eighty people in your party. Let us know ahead of time and we will be sure to give you a competitive rate for your catering and room venue.
